Life Philosophy – Chantelle Farley

Just because there isn’t a goalie doesn’t mean you cant score.

In life we all need to keep it going even when there is something in the way. Don’t let anything get to you or stop you. Its not always a goalie that is going to be in your way but you have to look at things in a different way to get around it.

Never give up.

No one ever should give up. You may get really close to it like i was in quitting hockey. I was always the one to stand out because i was a girl who played a “boys” sport and got picked on a lot. At a certain point in grade 8 when i had other hockey players in my class I was ready to quite hockey because I was so done. I am thankful that i never gave up but it got to me that year. It was a rough year and I always think back to that year and remember that i almost quite the thing I love so much. Hockey is legit my everything and I don’t know where i would be today without it.

Life is short.

Never stop because life will be over before you know it. You have one life to get things down and one life to really show people who you are. How you life this short life is up to you but know it isn’t forever. It isn’t going to wait for you, you got to take action now!

Life Philosophies

Don’t live in the past.

This philosophy means to not think about what you or others have done, but what you or those around you are going to do. Living in the past makes ones future harder to make and it overall leads to a clouded judgement. Therefore with this clouded judgement comes nothing but both interior and exterior adversities and hardships.

Your future depends on what you do today.

This means to live everyday as if it’s your last. To do anything an everything to the best of your ability as it will make your future much easier to control. Overall this philosophy is saying that the life decisions you make now will dictate who your future self will turn out to be.

There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.

Never cheat yourself. Do not take the less challenging route because by challenging yourself you will gain both experience and strength when another hardship comes in your path. Overall by achieving something through hard work and dedication there will be more self fulfillment.

Don’t follow someone else, be the leader worth following.

This basically means to not follow a set path, but make your own instead

Narrative: In the summer when I was 11 years old I had to bike to my cousins house every morning cause i was to young to stay home alone. Everyday we ended up going to 7-11 (corner store) to grab snacks and drinks for the day and every time we went my older cousin ended up stealing about 3 to 5 items. When we got home I’d always ask for some but he said I can only if I paid him double the amount it was at the store. As days went by I got jealous and decided to steal something myself but ended getting caught by the clerk. I knew doing this was against who I was as a person but I did it because someone else did. This life experience taught me to not follow what others do but to take the high rode and do what I thought was right.

Life Philosophies Of Sam

Image result for lemonDo what you can with what you got.

Everyone is in a different situation in life. Whether it’s good or bad; it’s always different, but that doesn’t mean anyone in a difficult spot should stop trying. Whatever life throws at you; you’ve got to do what you can with it. Relating back to the picture; we always hear “When life gives you lemons; make lemonade.” That exemplifies this life philosophy in a really nice way and it can, and should be used in life.

Fake it till you make it!

This philosophy signifies how sometimes in life you just gotta fake it until you make it. As an introverted person I don’t really enjoy being outgoing, or super talkative during conversations; it’s sometimes hard for introverts like me to even raise their hands in class when a teacher asks a question. That’s why I believe you have to fake it till you make it because if you fake having confidence for long enough then you will eventually gain more confidence in yourself.

Remove toxicity.

This philosophy means that you should always be wary of who you are hanging out with. Anyone who keeps you going, who keeps telling you what to work on and tries to help you improve, who doesn’t talk behind your back, and is a person who actually enjoys your company and vice versa are the people you should surround yourself with. It may be difficult for some people to push away the people who are unhealthy in their lives because they may feel like they need them or that they don’t have anyone else. But as I have tried to portray through my picture is that a negative person can slowly affect you and once you reach that threshold then you will burst and then you will have a big mess that could take a long time to clean up. So it is better to fix the issue before it gets out of hand and remove the negative influences.

Image result for free climbing a 240m radio towerFocus on what you enjoy!

Focusing on what you enjoy is a very simple philosophy. If you really enjoy doing it or if you want to do something but are too afraid to try it; do it. You never really know if you’ll enjoy it and you might find out that you’re really good at something. When you do things that you really love to do then dopamine is released in the brain which is what makes you feel happy. Most people I know like being happy, so they always take time to enjoy doing what they love to do.

Always try to be a better you!

Always trying to be a better you is my last philosophy and is also my narrative. I always try to be better than I was the day before because if I was having a bad day then it is not fair to other people in my life to have the bad feelings projected on to them. So I try to always be a positive person to whoever I talk to. Always trying to be a better you is also good for yourself because who wouldn’t want to be the best version of themselves? My narrative is one that is still being written, as high school goes on by I have tried to slowly gain more confidence and I always try to leave nice first impressions on people. I have heard from a few people that they used to think I was intimidating just from how I’d look, but then after they get to know me they say I’m actually a really nice person. Now a days I’m seeing that people are finding it a lot easier to come up and talk to me and that’s because I am always trying to be the best person I can be, for myself and for the people around me. I am projecting more bright feelings and I have changed my general demeanor to a much more positive one by changing who I talk to and hang out with along with what I do for myself.

Be Yourself

Create your own path, make yourself different from others.

This means to me is that people feel obligated to follow the majority in certain situations which at times, I can feel like the majority is not the right option in certain situations. Society makes it hard to divert yourself from others as people with a lesser-known opinion can be seen as an outcast. People can judge you based off of your opinions and life decisions, however, you need to do what is best for you and to ignore people that will try to change you. Perhaps, you can inspire people to follow the path that you made for yourself.

The bandwagon is not always the right option.

What this means to me is that I find that, nowadays, some people find something trendy and will follow it regardless. You do not need to adopt new beliefs if you always have core elements that you can fulfill that shape the way you are. You can have your own ideas and express yourself through your own words rather than having new ideas that can shape what other people believe. Being able to take in different opinions and new ideas is good to develop your own ideas but you should not willingly agree to new ideas without question.

Life is not a straight road.

Within life, there is not anything that will guide you along the road to reach the end. People will have to adapt to certain situations in order to avoid the obstacles in the way. Life will not be as simple as people will need to adapt to the situation that is presented at hand. The future can be unpredictable and you may not know what is to come. Being able to have the willpower to attempt to face it can make the struggle easier.

Adapt to become flexible.

In my life, I like to have planned out things going on in my life and to have awareness of what is going on. Plan ahead of what is to come in the future, don’t expect things to happen easily. Don’t give up when you can’t get out an obstacle or a situation. If things do not work the first time, you don’t have to constantly do it over and over, as it can drive you insane. Having a thought out the mindset of having different ideas to perform a task, can help develop new things you may not have thought prior.

Recognize your weaknesses, don’t ignore them.

Being able to be self-aware of your weaknesses can help you strengthen them to turn the weakness into a strength. If you were to ignore any weakness, it can slowly build up and you will not be able to recognize it before it becomes too late to understand the situation where it may consume your thoughts. If you can understand the things that you struggle in, it can help develop your personal sense of connectivity to yourself to understand yourself better in anyway shape or form.

For my narrative, I will be relating back to the final philosophy, recognize your weaknesses, don’t ignore them. Often times, I will constantly compare myself to others if I did poorly in. I had never really taken the things that I was lacking in, and to improve upon them. Something that I was lacking in was speaking in public settings as I found that really uneasy to speak in front of others. I had never really taken that into account and try to fix that weakness of mine. I would never really try and improve my weakness of that nervous public speaking. However, just last year, I began to try and step out of my comfort zone and volunteer at the library. It is a small step into being more open towards others, as I am only really speaking to children but I can only believe that this can help me develop myself into a stronger and more open individual.

Life Philosophies to live by…

“Mistakes are not defined as failures.”

To rethink mistakes as opportunities to try again to achieve success is a way to stay optimistic while achieving goals and aspirations. Individuals may think of mistakes as of failures because one has failed to attain their ambitions. Mistakes are defined as actions which individuals may take which are misguided, unknown of or unintentional but mistakes can be developed to success by taking chance to learn and improve. This can result in one being more confident and fulfill their desires while gaining knowledge about the mistakes which were made and actions to take to improve for next time

“Look for the good in every situation and person.”

Negativity is defined as the expression of criticism towards a specific object, thought, or subject. Individuals tend to look at every obstacle, adversity, consequence as something that will affect their life negatively instead of opportunities to improve or learn from that specific experience. High school lets individuals experience many adversities that come upon them, which are usually challenges that one needs to overcome by learning and improving; to continue to persevere through that. Positivity is a way for individuals to see a different perspective of situations and of their surroundings; allowing them to be more optimistic.

“Optimism is key.”

“Optimism is key” are a few words one of my middle school teachers always used to say. Whenever one of the students in the class says, “I cannot do this,” or “This homework was way too hard,” she wouldn’t say much. Nobody ever called her a horrible teacher nor a bad person, just a person with a very few words. But indeed, the teacher did always say the word ‘optimism’. Optimism is positivity, hope, confidence, favourable outcome; the opposite of negative, failure, impossible. This philosophy can be applied anywhere, in school, home, work, with your friends or family; meaning seeing the better in one’s surroundings, which can result an individual being more optimistic about themselves.

“Live for today.”

This philosophy is self explanatory but very inspiring. As obvious, individuals tend to fret about the past and the future; how it will impact the present. This results in individuals losing opportunities in the present. As individuals are concerned with small things in their life; they tend to forget about their values and fundamentals in their life in the present.

My grandpa, my moms’ father, passed away in an car accident when I was eight years old. My grandpa, whom I would call ‘Nana’ was father of five children, my mother, my aunt and my three uncles. I do not really remember much of my grandpa, but all of know is the stories and adventures my family has told me about him. He was a role model, somebody the family looked up to.

My grandpa was so inspiring. Since I have been growing up, my family has told me that he was the one who raised me, while my mom was at work, played with me when I was still the only child. From what I have heard, he lived for the present. He did not worry about what happened yesterday when he got a scratch on the car or worry about what is going to happen tomorrow at work. He just worried about what was going on in his day, making sure his children, grandchildren and my grandma had everything they needed. My mom would always say “He sure did not worry about anything but his family,” which is considered true by everyone. Since I was eight years old till now, I would always believe that my grandpa would not regret how he lived his life because of the way he lived it and only worried about what was truly important to him, which was family.

Think, Believe, and Live for Yourself

Q7U2HXQKa2_1441946032265Don’t be jealous of others.

I believe one should not be jealous of others’ success but instead use that jealousy as a motivator to achieve their own goals. Being jealous of someone else is a waste of time. I believe that you need to realize that you are capable of doing anything someone else can do. For example, if a friend of yours has just gotten a job or is doing well is school, instead of being bitter about it, fuel yourself to build up the courage to get a job or push yourself to do well in school.

Never take advice.

Although this philosophy may seem confusing to some, it is one I live by every day. It is often easy to take advice and experience a situation with that preconceived advice. However, I believe it is imperative that I experience things on my own without any expectations or guide lines beforehand. This way, I am able to make my own advice for myself. I feel that taking advice may skew ones perspective of a situation and therefore may ruin the experience for them. For us teenagers, we often have advice thrown at us from all directions: parents, teachers, mentors, etc. which is able to easily confuse us because we are being told so many different things. Furthermore, I believe it is more beneficial for us to take the road as it comes and make the best of it.

Don’t allow other to intrude your life.

Allowing negative people into one’s personal life can consequently lead one to alter their beliefs or actions due to judgement. I believe that you should surround yourself with positive people, and although that may sound cliche, it is very important. Judgmental people can be toxic to ones well being because it can ruin one’s self esteem and make them self conscious. Sometimes it is a good thing to remain reserved about yourself.

rGFgCjG2ao_1441946032242

Believe in yourself.

Believing in yourself is one of the best things you can do. Why? Believing in yourself can allow you to obtain and achieve anything you want in life. People often sell themselves short by thinking they’re incapable of doing something. This is where the problem is. If you know your worth and have faith your capabilities, you are able to maximize your potential to the fullest. The mindset of being positive and having faith is one of the greatest tools a person can have because it allows them believe in what they’re doing and strive for success. Having no faith and being negative about your capabilities will attract that kind of energy and subsequently lead yourself down a path of failure.

Do something you absolutely hate in order to find out what you love to do.

If you don’t know what you want to do in life, this is the most useful tip I can give to anyone. I discovered this philosophy over the summer while I had a job painting houses. All summer I would be surrounded by the nauseating scent of paint and have paint all over myself and in my hair, it was horrible. I hated this job. I hated this job so much that all I could think about was what I would rather be doing at that time while I was painting. And at this point, I decided that I would rather be at school. All the headaches and endless shower attempts to get paint off of me lead me to realize that although I didn’t like school that much, I would rather try to succeed in it rather than be stuck painting houses. Painting granted me so much motivation to do well in school. Now that it’s senior year for me, I’ve been channeling that motivation to do well and succeed for the betterment of my future.

My Five Life Philosophies

There is no end.
The world doesn’t stop spinning just because our time ends. Three generations from now most of us will be forgotten, my descendants might no even know what I look like. I shouldn’t be pushing to go out in a bang, because over time everything is washed away.

https://www.etsy.com/ca/people/BenjaminDewey?ref=pr_profile

No one cares.
I once heard someone say that they couldn’t remember more than half of the people they went to high school with. And it got me thinking, everything stupid thing I do, every little mistake I make will mean nothing to those who get to know me in passing. The only thing these small mistakes can serve to do is help me. Everyone is so wrapped up in themselves that they don’t have time to care about every bodies problems.

Loyalty.
Every person has loyalty to someone, family, friends or themselves. Loyalty isn’t do what another person wants, or being an unthinking drone for your country, but showing that you trust someone. I’m loyal to myself, not changing or going against my own beliefs because my family doesn’t share them. In turn, I am loyal to my friends because I don’t abandon them when they’re in need.

Freedom is an idea created in the human mind.
The idea of freedom had been immortalized in the image of a flying bird, but the bird isn’t truly free. The bird can’t write, or speak English, the limitations of the birds body and mind restrict it to simple things. Humans are limited the same way, I can’t grow wings or develop gills, and it is impossible for me to live past a hundred and twenty. I shouldn’t push myself to do things I will never be able to do.

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/a5/29/dc/a529dcf1f69e4173267a9e6674619a8c.jpg

Does it really matter?
Something that could seem like the end of the world could be nothing in the grand scheme of things. Time is always moving forward, you will never live the same second ever again, so why dwell on the small things, when there is so much more you can do.

Narrative: No one cares.
When I was younger (before high school) I would think over every little thing I did that day before I went to bed. I didn’t sit down and decide to, it just came to mind when I would be laying in bed trying to sleep. It stressed me out beyond belief, going over every little thing an imagining how people would taunt me with it the next day. I was on YouTube one night, and in the video the guy said that people don’t care, that they’re so wrapped up in their own problems that they don’t have the ability to care about those around them. It was the first step into what I will call “Rhiannon’s spiral into uncaringness”. One persons words just dropped me onto a path that lead to me not giving a single turd about what people thought of me or what I did. As long as I was happy with myself and I’m not hurting people then it’s okay, and in turn I apply that when I encounter people everyday.

Life Philosophies: Living to Your Full Potential

You Can Always – Created with Haiku Deck, presentation software that inspires

My first life philosophy is ,“You can always improve yourself.” To me this means that no matter what I find myself doing, whether, it’s work or school, I can always push myself further and see more of what I am capable of. This will push me to better myself in every area of my life such as: my relationships, my personal nature, and my knowledge. My parents have always enforced this philosophy upon my brothers and I, but I never really understood why. Now when I take time to look back and attempt to find to reason behind it I can clearly see that my parents, like all parents, want what’s best for me and part of that is me being able to work on my weaknesses and improve on them.

My second philosophy is, “Mistakes show you’re trying.” This is especially reflective in my life because if I am doing or about to do something and I’m not good at, then I will stop putting in the effort before I even have a chance to really try. Learning new things require us to come out of our comfort zone which is very hard for me to do but when I push myself I see the positive outcome it has on my character.

As I’ve started to apply this philosophy into my life, I am beginning to understanding that when you mess up it doesn’t mean you’re a failure, it just shows that you are putting in effort to learn something new.

My third philosophy is, “Embrace every season.” By the word season I don’t mean throughout the year, but seasons in your life. Whether you’re going through hard times or the most joyful times of your life, you should learn to take time to look back and reflect on what you can learn from that particular time in your life. Too many times we focus on the wastelands and forget that whatever particular season we are placed in, we are in it to teach us something that will make us a better person because of it.

My fourth philosophy is, “Take opportunities as they come.” You may think that opportunities are going to be thrown at you at all points in your life, but that isn’t true. Because of this I believe that you should take may of the opportunities that you do get even if it doesn’t seem like something that will change your life in the moment. I don’t want to get older and look back at my life and think, “I should’ve taken that job” or “Where would I ended up if I had said yes to that chance.” Instead I want to be able to look back without regrets and know that I’ve lived my life to its fullest. By saying yes to more things you’re putting yourself in a place to allow for more and more growth.

My final philosophy is, “Be the light.” In my everyday life this means that I should be doing my best to brighten up someone else day no matter what my day might be looking like. Although this may sound cliche, once you get into a habit of putting the needs of others before your own you being to have a shift in your character. Your heart becomes one of serving others and helping people learn that they can do the same.

“As we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence actually liberates others.” – Marianne Williamson

Whenever I think about this I am reminded of this summer when I went on a missions trip with my youth group to Los Angeles. While we we’re there we worked with an organization called the Dream Centre, which is a church/rehabilitation centre/ community outreach centre. During one of our ministries on Skid Row I met a man who called himself Uncle Joe, he carried around a boombox and pulled a wagon filled with crates of water. I stopped to talk to him and ask about what he was doing and he told me that he had lived on Skid Row for his whole life and that his one goal was to make everyone he encountered everyday smile. To do this he spent all of his government cheques on water and gave it out to the other homeless people he saw in the streets. He used what little he had to make everyone else life better and has inspired me to try and do the same.

My Life Philosophies

Never give up no mater what life throws at you. This is a life philosophy to me because life has its ups and downs so you have to adjust to life the way it wants you to live it. Whatever life throws at you either in a good way or a bad just think in a positive way that will help you adjust to the situation.

Happy life goes a long way. Life is filled with all kinds of sorrows and happiness. Always be happy because no matter what a life of happiness always will lead you to a path full of life then depression. The happier you are the more chance you have to live life for longer and happy.

Trust people that you know are worthy enough to be trusted. People are not easily trusted at because you never know what they would say at what time. So make the effort of trusting people that you know are really close to you either if they are family or friends. Trusting people are hard but if you trust people that you know are worthy enough to be trusted  you would know that you have someone always beside you always.

You never know how long your life is so just enjoy it. Life is filled with surprises. You never know when the end of your life is and how long you will live. Live is as long as you are living, breathing and enjoying your life, so instead of worrying of any kind of disaster just live it and enjoy it till your very last breath.

Your life is like a story live it and then pass it on. Sometimes life is short but you never know what you can accomplish in that short time. You can always just live a life either in a happy or depressed way but life is always with you that you can tell other people that are important to your life. That life can last you living if you are no longer living by just passing on the stories that you have told your loved ones.
